ARTWORK for ISTITUTO AMEDEO MODIGLIANI | NFT COLLECTION

My artwork, tribute to Amedeo Modigliani,
has been selected to be part of the collection "Le Catalogue des Maudits" by
Istituto Amedeo Modigliani - Modigliani NFT Project, Rome.

Explanation of my artwork
1/9. Everyone knows Modigliani thanks to his unique and unmistakable
style, but do we really know his stylistic choices? What did he want to
convey with his art? Everyday we are flooded with a barrage of input flowing on our
screens but we are no longer used to deepen their meaning.

2/9. "The future of art is in a woman’s face. How do you make love to a
cube?", Modì asked Picasso in the French capital. His works are marked by
the diversity in women's beauty and one of his "trademarks" catches the
eye immediately, in his paintings and also in his sculptures: shapes, and
above all, narrow and long necks.
Even his landscapes seem to have those magic necks.

3/9. But what did the neck mean for the artist? Total sensuality and
seduction, one of the most erogenous areas, place of kisses and caresses,
bridge between heart and brain, able to enhance the feminine beauty.
Modì extended and eternalized that moment of beauty.

4/9. Everyone who posed for him said that being portrayed by Modigliani
was like having their soul bared. To Modì, models were not everyday
objects to narrate, result of cold posing sessions. Thanks to Modì, women of
that time were turned into contemporary women, whose faces were just
starting to show first signs of make-up. Beautiful women, young women
and emancipated women.

5/9. Yeah, “bare a person's soul”. Another common feature of Modigliani
paintings were the eyes, unreal and empty. A way to represent the
characters’ introspection and in order to mirror the viewer's eyes?!

6/9. In light of all this I gave birth to my artwork. A palpably female subject,
a woman of our days, wrapped in a game of soft lights and shadows that
are very reminiscent of brush painting and, at the same time, impactful
and able to enhance her sinuous shapes.

7/9. This time Modì sinuous and elongated shapes touch the sky, maybe
they are endless, my hyperbola of his hyperbola, to reach far away
destinations, even higher and more spiritual.

8/9. A woman, a woman like many others portrayed by Modigliani, with her
soul bared, without face and identity, so that she can become a "universal
woman", so that by observing her the viewer can find the beauty of every
woman in the world.

9/9. In other words, if Modì extended and eternalized a moment of beauty, I
tried to extend and eternalize Modigliani concept and the beauty of
every woman.
